Biography

Ms. Garcia attended UT San Antonio and received a Bachelor's Degree in History before moving to Lubbock to earn a Master's Degree in Museum Science from Texas Tech University where she worked as an assistant in the TTU Museum's education department. As a part of the degree plan, she worked for several months as an intern at the Fort Bend County Museum in Richmond, TX, the site of the first American settlement in Texas under Stephen F. Austin. While there, she revamped their educational guide for teachers and created activities that aligned with scouting programs.

 

Following graduate school, Ms. Garcia worked as a supervisor at Starbucks, while volunteering at museums, eventually becoming Programs Manager at the Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio. At the Museum, she worked with tours, events, and assisted the Education Director with lesson plans and activities. 

 

Since switching to teaching, Ms.Garcia has found many parts of her job to love, but the best ones are the moments in her day when students are engaged and interested in history!
