Language Arts
Our K-2 program is focused on learning to read. Students participate in a variety of experiences to gain command of the English language. Through the workshop model, much thematic integration takes place and writing is done across the curriculum. In grades 3-5, the focus is on reading to learn. Higher order critical thinking skills are infused into each day’s activities to get the most out of each language experience. Middle school students carry their learning even further with activities that require small group interaction, independent research and reflection to guide future learning. All grades participate in purposeful journaling daily. We provide students with a welcoming risk-free environment, developing lifelong readers, writers, and critical thinkers. We encourage students to be resourceful, expressive, and reflective, providing children with tools to use their creativity and develop their ideas.
