Mathematics
Our mathematics program integrates both the traditional and investigative-based approaches along with the math language and vocabulary needed to optimize the mathematical learning experience. We teach students to see math as a meaningful tool in their daily lives. The program focuses on number sense through conceptual development of operations, and computation including estimation and mental math.
Our math lessons connect to prior knowledge, math strands and the real world. We provide our students with abundant practice opportunities, which builds a strong foundation for mathematic operations and quantitative reasoning. Students learn real world applications, problem solving strategies, and statistics which promote higher order thinking. Students build on the strong foundation of basic skills, vocabulary, patterns, relationships, and algebraic thinking; reasoning; and measurement.
