MUNSA

MUNSA stands for the Model United Nations San Antonio conference, a two-day international relations and diplomacy event for high school and middle school students. It is an annual conference typically held at the Trinity University campus in San Antonio, Texas. Every year a group of EKHLA 8th graders attends the conference.  Contact [email protected] for more information.

Key Details about MUNSA:
  • Purpose: The conference allows students (referred to as "delegates") to simulate the United Nations, representing different countries and participating in debates to work through real-world global issues such as human rights, climate change, and international security.
  • Organization: MUNSA is notably the largest student-run Model UN conference in the United States, organized primarily by students from the International School of the Americas (ISA), a local magnet high school with an international affairs curriculum.
  • Participants: It attracts hundreds of students from across Texas and Mexico, fostering an environment for them to learn about diplomacy, public speaking, research, and collaboration.
  • Experience: The event is designed to replicate the college-level Model UN experience, allowing students to use campus facilities like dining halls and featuring events like a delegate dance.
The conference aims to foster the next generation of global leaders by providing a platform for students to engage with complex international concerns and develop skills in diplomatic problem-solving.
